10 Claims of long-lived spiral waves (e.g. Thomasson et al. 1990) have mostly been based on simulations of short duration. For example, Elmegreen & Thomasson (1993) presented a simulation that displayed spiral patterns for 10 rotations, but the existence of some underlying long-lived wave is unclear because the pattern changed from snapshot to snapshot.
