The period and pattern of oscillation depend upon the ratios of the string length and of the distance of the supporting points to the distance between two end points of the strings attached to an upper wall. When a cuboid (wooden chip is used in place of the bar, another effect due to elastic strings is found in experiments, so a new model spring-pendulum is proposed here to clarify mechanical effects in numerical simulation.
