2 Miyagi Gakuin Women's University 図 1 アダム ミツキェヴィチ像 ポズナン ミツキィヴィチ広場 2012 年 9 月著者撮影 は 現在のアダム ミツキェヴィチ像とその像が建っている場所から出発して ポズナンの記憶と 歴史の一端を検討する試論である 以下では 1 でポズナンの歴史の概略と聖マルチン通りの位置 づけを行う この聖マルチン通りの現ミツキェヴィチ広場に関係のある記念碑を扱う 2 ではかつ てこの場所にあったビスマルク像を 3 ではミツキェヴィチ像を見ていく2 1 ポズナンと聖マルチン通り ポーランドは 966 年のカトリックへの改宗により ヨーロッパの歴史の中に姿を現した この 当時の王朝がピャスト朝であり 10 世紀末には 西はオドラ川 オーデル川 南はカルパティア 山脈に至る現在のポーランドに匹敵する領域を支配するに至った ポズナンはヴァルタ川の中流に 位置し ポーランド西部のヴィエルコポルスカ地方の中心であり 初期の首都であった 房 2008 年 なお ドイツ ポーランド間の記憶の場所については 5 巻組みの Hahn, Hans Henning/ Traba, Robert, Deutsch-Polnische Erinnerungsorte Paderborn, の 刊 行 が 開 始 さ れ た 現 在 は Bd.3 Parallen のみが既刊 ポズナンの記念碑については Kronika Miasta Poznania 以下 KMP と略 , Pomniki が個別の記念碑 2 についての論考を所収している また Jaworski, Rudolf/ Molik, Witold Hg., Denkmäler in Kiel und Posen. 4 Miyagi Gakuin Women's University 図 2 現在のポズナン中心部 間は ポズナン要塞の壁の一部であり ベルリン門があった 都市の成長により 1901 年にベル リン門とその周辺の壁が解体され 広大な跡地が生じた その空間に ドイツ帝国の諸施設が建設 された 帝宮 コレギウム マイウス Collegium Maius コレギウム ミヌス Collegium Minus 劇場 広場などが設置され この地域は 皇帝地区 Dzielnica Cesarska と呼ばれるよう になった 現在のミツキェヴィチ広場は この際に設置された広場である このように 聖マルチン通りはポズナンの象徴の一つである ただし それが象徴しているのは 中世以来続くポズナンというよりも むしろ 近代 のポズナン 特に 20 世紀のポズナンである といえよう 2 ヴァルタの護り ビスマルク像 ① ビスマルクとポーランド人政策 20 世紀初頭の 皇帝地区 の広場に最初に設置されたのは ミツキェヴィチ像ではなく ビス マルク像であった オ ッ ト ー フ ォ ン ビ ス マ ル ク Otto Eduard Leopold Fürst von Bismarck Schönhausen, は 周知のように 1871 年に創建されたドイツ帝国の初代宰相 であり ドイ - ツ帝国創設の英雄である そのため ドイツ人の間に ビスマルク崇拝 が生まれ ビスマルク生 前である 1868 年から顕彰のための記念碑が各地で設立され始めた 記念碑の形状はビスマルク塔 ビスマルク柱 ビスマルク像などがあり 総数で 700 以上 地域的にはドイツだけでなく アフリ 18

9 Miyagi Gakuin Women's University 図 3 ビ ス マ ル ク 像 1903 年 pomnik_poznan.jpg を選択した しかし この土地の所有者は軍であり その償却のために 1,200 万 RM が必要となっ た この資金は国庫から支出され 114 ヘクタールの土地は国有化され そこに記念碑が設置され ることとなったのである このことからも明らかなように ビスマルク記念碑は 都市からの要求 だけではなく むしろ国家的な見地から建立されたのである23 ビスマルク像は エーベルライン Gustav Eberlein により 1901 年 12 月ベルリンで製作された オストマルク協会は この像は 多くの小市民 による寄付でできたため ドイツ人全体の作品で あり 偉大な宰相への崇拝と感謝 を表しているとした 寄付を行ったのは 金額ではユンカー 層の寄与が大きかったが 人数的には官吏 教員 法曹関係者 軍人 医師が多かった そのため ビスマルク像は 大地所有者および教養市民層によって担われたといえるだろう また地域的に見 ると 寄付者は ポーゼン州や東部諸州だけでなく ドイツ帝国全体に広がっていた24 ビスマルク像の除幕式は 1903 年 10 月 11 日の日曜日に行われた ポズナン市住民には 国旗 を掲揚するように求められた 特別列車も仕立てられ 多数の市外住民も除幕式に参加した25 ポズナンのビスマルク像 図 3 は 樫の切り株の上に広げられたポーゼン州の地図の上に右手 を置いていた この身振りにより 訪れる人は ポズナンが ドイツの都市 であり ポーゼン州 はプロイセン君主国から分かつことができないと感じさせられた また この土台部分は ビス Molik, S Molik, S Molik, S
10 Miyagi Gakuin Women's University 図 4 ビスマルク像 1915 年 奥に見えるのは コレギウム ミヌス 当時の王立アカデミー 現在のアダム ミツキェヴィチ大学 著者所蔵の絵葉書 マルク と 1903 という銘が刻まれただけの質素なものであったが エーベルラインは 土台と ビスマルク像について 像 はその土台に根付いており モニュメント全体もその場所に根付い ている と述べ その土地との結びつきを強調した26 つまり ポズナンのビスマルク像は ドイ ツ帝国にポーゼン州を結び付けておくという重要な機能を持っていたのである この建設に明確に反対していたのはポーランド人であった ビスマルク像によって 都市の美化 を図るという計画には 1901 年 10 月時点において既に フワポフスキ Antoni Chłapowski が市 参事会において ポーランド人への直接的な挑発となる として明確に反対した27 住民の多数を 占めるポーランド人のこのような反対にもかかわらず ビスマルク像は建設されたのである その後 ビスマルク像周辺の開発が進み 1905 年から 1910 年の間に大型の建築物 特に像の左 側には帝宮 さらに右側には王立アカデミーの建設が予定された この結果 ビスマルク像の効果 が薄まることが予測された そのため 宰相の姿をより中心に動かすため に 1907 年 12 月 ビスマルク像は もともとの立地場所から南西方向に移動された 図 4 28 オストマルクイデオロギーを象徴する 鉄血宰相 の記念碑は ポズナンの町の目抜き通りの脇 のきわめて目に付く場所にあり それを見る人には二様の感情を引き起こした ドイツ人の大部分 には崇拝 ポーランド人には怒りや憤りである29 それだけでなく ポーランド人には同時に 対 Molik, S Molik, S Dziennik Poznan ski, R.45 nr251 ; R.45 nr252 ; R.45 nr255 ; R.45 nr258. 17 Miyagi Gakuin Women's University 図 7 アダム ミツキェヴィチ像 ポズナン学術愛好協会中庭 2012 年 9 月著者撮影 象徴する場所であった 新しいミツキェヴィチ像は この記憶を打ち消すために 国家によって計 画されたものであった つまり ミツキェヴィチ像は 国家によって簒奪されたといえるだろう しかし現在 このミツキェヴィチ広場には もう一つの記念碑が建っている ポズナンの十字 架 1956 年 6 月 暴動 の犠牲者記念碑 である この記念碑は 社会主義国家に対する反体制 運動を記念するものである この点でも 聖マルチン通りとミツキェヴィチ広場は ポズナンの近 代 特に 20 世紀を象徴する場所なのである 最後に指摘しなければならないことは 現在ポズナンにはミツキェヴィチ像がもう一つあるとい うことである それは オレシュチンスキ作の初代の像のレプリカであり ポズナン学問愛好協会 の建物の中庭にある 1989 年の体制転換の後 学問愛好協会の主導によって再建された 先に述 べたように ブロンズの二代目の像が作られた後に オレシュチンスキ作のオリジナルの石像が設 置されていたのがこの場所であった このレプリカは 1998 年 12 月 2 日 ミツキェヴィチ生誕 200 周年の日に除幕式が行われた61 ポズナンのエリートの記憶は今もこの場所に立っているのであ る 図 7 ビスマルク像と三つのミツキェヴィチ像の検討から見えたのは ポズナンにおける記憶の多層性 と多様性である ビスマルク像とミツキェヴィチ像は それぞれドイツ人とポーランド人の記憶を 象徴しており ナショナルな記憶による差異が現れていた また ミツキェヴィチ像は ポーラン ド人の中においても 知識エリート 大衆 社会主義国家のそれぞれにおいて異なる記憶の中で機 能していた そして さらに 現在そして今後も記憶のあり方は変化し続けていくと考えられる これらの多様な記憶を分析することが今後の課題である Matusik, S
18 Abstract A visitor to present day Poznań would see the Mickiewicz monument at the Mickiewicz square which is situated at the westernmost end of St. Marcin Street. However, a century before, a visitor would have seen a Bismarck monument standing in the same place. Today, Poznań is a city in Poland. However, in the 19th century it was a part of the German Empire. This paper examines the historical memories of the city of Poznań by investigating the Bismarck and the Mickiewicz monuments. In chapter 1, the formation of St. Marcin street and the present Mickiewicz square is surveyed. At the end of the 18th century, the surrounding areas of St. Marcin were incorporated into the city region. The circumference of the Mickiewicz Square was developed in the era of German Emperor Wilhelm II, and called the emperor district. For these reasons, St. Marcin Street and the Mickiewicz Square symbolize modernized Poznań rather than the traditional medieval Poznań. In chapter 2, we survey the Bismarck monument. As is well known, Bismarck was a hero of the founding of the German Empire. On the other hand, he was an oppressor for the Poles. In spite of opposition from the Polish population, the Bismarck monument was built in 1903 at the emperor district which was developed then, in order to show the power of Germany. In chapter 3, we consider the Mickiewicz monuments. Adam Mickiewicz was one of the greatest Polish national poets and writers, and died in The first Mickiewicz monument of Poznań was built in 1858, which is the earliest one dedicated to him in Poland. This stood at the side of St. Martin s church. This monument was built by intellectuals that were intimate with Mickiewicz. That meant that the importance of this monument was restricted to intellectual circles. In 1904, this monument was reconstructed. The purpose of this reconstruction was to confront with new German monuments within the city, including the Bismarck monument. As a result, this second monument became a symbol for Polish nationalism. This monument was destroyed on the occasion of the Nazi occupation in In 1958, the present monument was built at the site where the Bismarck monument once 32
19 stood. This square was one of the main open places of the Poznań uprising in In order to divert this memory, this monument was erected at the initiative of the socialist state. This later monument to Mickiewicz represented an appropriation of the monument of the Polish people by the socialist state. This survey of the Bismarck and Mickiewicz monuments of Poznań shows that the national respective memories of Germans and Poles were different. Furthermore, the fact is confirmed that even amongst the Poles, memories of the elite, the people, and the state differed from each other. 33
