4 Lesson 3 Grammar notes 4 ikurahow much? ikura is an interrogative word used to ask the price or quantity of something. Kore wa ikura desu ka.how much is this? 5 V masu-form In all sentences, final verbs end with masu in ordinary polite speech. ikimasugo tsukimasuarrive kaerimasureturn to Inflection of V masu-form non-pastpresent and/or future past affirmative iki masu iki mashita negative iki masen iki masendeshita The non-past form is used to refer to both present and future actions and states. Japanese does not distinguish between the two grammatically. Watashi wa mainichi hatarakimasu.i work everyday. Watashi wa ashita hatarakimasu.i will work tomorrow. 7 N place ei come / go / returnto place The particle e marks the noun indicating direction, and is used with verbs which have a directional meaning such as ikimasu, kimasu, kaerimasu.
