International School Tokyo School Uniform and Student Dress Code 制服と生徒の服装規定 1.1 KIST has a strict dress code which all students must follow at all times, including while traveling to and from school. The code, which covers uniforms, clothing and general appearance, has been established to encourage respect, responsibility and safety amongst our students. Purchasing uniform items 制服の購入 2.1 There are formal summer and winter uniforms as well as a PE uniform. Compulsory uniform items (except the navy blue blazer for Secondary students) and optional items may be purchased through the school. Many of the items have been designed especially for KIST and so are unable to be purchased outside the school. Due to sizing issues, black trousers for boys (Grades 6 12) may be purchased either from the school or from retail stores outside the school. If purchasing trousers outside the school, however, the fabric and design must conform to the school standard. Items may be ordered by submitting the form together with payment in cash or by Edy card to the main office. Payment by bank transfer is also possible; however, such orders will only be processed after payment has been confirmed. Credit card payments are not accepted. Siblings are allocated to the same house. For Elementary students (K1 to Grade 5), if black sneaker-type shoes are purchased, they may also be worn with the formal uniform. The school pin (available for purchase from the school shop) should be attached to the blazer. Silver buttons are also available for purchase from the school shop. For K1 to Grade 5 students, the blazer is optional. Uniform combinations 制服の組み合わせ Students are expected to wear the correct combination of uniform items at all times. This includes the following situations: 生徒は常時正しい組み合わせで制服を着用すること 以下に具体例を説明する a) K1 to Grade 5 boys should not wear the short sleeve summer shirt with black trousers. The summer shirt should only be worn with check shorts. Grade 5 boys only, however, may choose to wear the full secondary summer uniform (short or long sleeve button-down shirt and black trousers) if they wish; and in winter, K3 students only may choose to wear the short or long sleeve button-down shirt and black trousers (Grade 1 5) if they wish. 6

Uniform for school photographs スクール写真撮影時の制服 6.1 School photographs are usually taken in early October. On these days, all students must wear the correct formal summer uniform. The KIST cardigan or a navy blue blazer (with silver buttons and school pin attached) may be worn if the day is cold. No items from the PE uniform may be worn. Uniform for school events 学校行事の服装 The correct formal uniform must be worn to events such as school ceremonies and formal events (e.g. promotions/graduations, exhibitions, parent/teacher/student interviews, student-led conferences etc.) and on any other occasions as announced separately by the school. General appearance 身だしなみ規定 General appearance, in particular, uniform and hair style, must be clean, neat and tidy in order to uphold the image of the school in the community. Spot-checks of students clothing and general appearance will be conducted from time to time to ensure that the school dress code is being followed correctly. Free dress days フリードレスデー 9.1 On various occasions during the year, students are encouraged to participate in free dress days. All students who choose to wear free dress on these days are required to pay a small fee which is put towards a specific fundraising activity or project or area of the school. Dress code for times when the uniform is not worn 制服を着用しない時の服装規約 10.1 On occasions when personal clothing is permitted to be worn (e.g. some excursions, school outings or free dress days), clothes and general appearance must uphold the image of the school. The regular dress code for general appearance must be followed in addition to the points below. Students will be sent home if their clothing and general appearance do not meet the dress code requirements. 私服の着用が許可された場合 ( 例 : 遠足 小旅行 フリードレスデーなど ) 服装や外見は学校のイメージを損なわないものでなければならない 下記に示す点に加え 一般的外見についての定められた服装規約に従わなくてはならない 服装や身だしなみが服装規約に合致しない時は 生徒は帰宅するよう求められる a) For safety reasons, shoes with covered toes must be worn and heels must be less than 3 cm high. 10 school after graduation until the end of the school year are not required to wear the school uniform; however, their personal clothing and general appearance must meet the requirements outlined above. Infractions of the dress code 服装規約違反 11.1 Students found to be disregarding the school dress code are required to address the problem on the spot where appropriate.
