He s quitting his job to become a ramen chef. (Mike Elliott) If you have a slow CPU or a slow, slow memory, your whole system will be slow because that s the weak link in the chain. Same thing for a bowl of ramen. You have your soup, your noodles, your toppings. If any of them are substandard, the bowl s no good. The ramen is not gonna* 2 be good. ❸ In the last two years from students overseas. (Kaoru Fujii, Principal, Yamato Noodle School) It s great that Japanese noodles are spreading around the world. ❹ But. Traditional ramen is far from instant. It s a lifelong commitment. It takes years to develop ramen intuition. Only then can you consider yourself a master of the dish. But this school takes an analytical, mathematical approach to teaching. Every ingredient, every drop is measured to a T. ❺ This guarantees the students every time. Some recipes take hours to prepare. The key here is patience. (Mike Elliott) I enjoy it though, so it s not difficult. If you like what you re doing, it s never difficult. But it all depends on one key element, the soup. ❻ They say. Elliott challenges himself to create a healthy vegan soup. ❼ Vegetable-only varieties of ramen are rare, After the first tasting... (An instructor) It s sweet. It s too sweet. So, Elliott experiments. Then he asks Master Fujii for his advice. After a dash of green onions, seaweed and vinegar... (Mike Elliott) Ah, it smells good already....yeah, much better, yeah. The last step: an artful arrangement of the toppings. And his masterpiece is complete. Elliott names his healthy, meat-free bowl of ramen the lady-killer. He hopes to open Ramen Ninja, one of the first ramen shops in Austin, by next fall. Soon, Texans, too, will be joining the ramen revolution.
