Yes/No Questions Information Questions :40 11:00 Introduction to God, Jesus John 1: Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God. 3 He created everything there is nothing exists that he didn t make. 4 Eternal life is in him, and this life gives light to all mankind. 5 His life is the light that shines through the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it. 6-7 God sent John the Baptist as a witness to the fact that Jesus Christ is the true Light. 8 John himself was not the Light; he was only a witness to identify it. 9 Later on, the one who is the true Light arrived to shine on everyone coming into the world. 10 But although he made the world, the world didn t recognize him when he came Even in his own land and among his own people, the Jews, he was not accepted. Only a few would welcome and receive him. But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them. 13 All those who believe this are reborn! not a physical rebirth resulting from human passion or plan but from the will of God. 3
4 14 And Christ became a human being and lived here on earth among us and was full of loving forgiveness and truth. And some of us have seen his glory the glory of the only Son of the heavenly Father! The Word You May Not Know: Exist=to live; Jesus Christ=the Son of God; alive=not dead; create=to bring into being; eternal life=life that lasts always and forever; mankind: all human beings; darkness=so dark, one can t see anything; extinguish=to delete; John the Baptist = a man sent by God to introduce Jesus to us; witness=a person who sees and hears; identify=to find out what something is; recognize=to understand; Jews=people whose ancestors were from the story in the Bible; receive=to accept; trust=to believe; reborn=rebirth; forgiveness=free from guilt, blame, debt; truth=a thing that is real; glory=majesty, greatness; Son=Jesus Christ; heavenly Father=God *Evil (devil) is Satan who opposes God. He is an evil spirit who leads us to disobey what God teaches us in the Bible. *Sin (sinful nature) is fallen human nature. The Bible says that sin is in us and comes through Adam and Eve who were the first humans, the parents of mankind. They were tempted by Satan, ate some fruit which God had told them not to eat and disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3) Questions from John 1: Who is the Son of God? 2. What did God create through Jesus? (v. 3) 3. For what purpose was John sent by God? (v. 6-7) 4. What did people, who believed in Jesus, see? (v. 14) 5.
