English classes are a place to learn not only listening and speaking skills, but also to learn many other things About other countries, other people, even about yourself. Brush up the basics in Friday Afternoon Challenge, and go on to improve your confidence and express your opinion in Reading & Discussion. Your goal: to speak, in English, with people from around the world. To make friends, share ideas and experiences, enjoy exchanges, gain memories. My goal: to help you to reach your goal. Step by step, we can work together to help you understand English words and sentences, and the cultures behind the language. It is not an easy journey, but treasures wait for you along the way. Let's walk together! 1. Don't be afraid of making mistakes. 2. Don't forget that practice makes perfect. 3. Make the best use of your dictionary. I believe that learning and mastering English takes time and effort, but I also believe that learning should be fun and interesting. That s why we always have stimulating class discussions in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The class will to help you improve your English communication skills (not only speaking and listening, but also reading and writing) through pair work, discussions and journal writing. You will also meet other students, work with them, share ideas and make new discoveries that go beyond studying English. As a teacher, it is always a thrill and a pleasure to work with such a unique and talented group of students here at the Waseda Extension Center. Join us and I m sure you will agree! In this changing world, the ability to communicate effectively is more important than ever. As you consider how to improve your communication skills in English, it might help you to answer the following questions: 1. What is your specific need to learn English? Do you need English communication skills for work or for school or for pleasure? 2. What are your learning objectives? What are your goals? Do you want to improve your speaking, listening, reading, or writing? Do you want to learn business English, travel English, or everyday English? 3. How will you achieve your goals? Will you take a class or study alone or both? How much time will you study? Will you make a plan so that you can see your progress? I encourage you to think carefully about what you want to achieve through your English study and then to take action to achieve your goals. Good luck! 107
