In the lower stratosphere, quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) of tropical east/west winds reverberate. In 2003, westerlies on the side of Asia cause the Tibetan high to weaken; on the contrary, easterlies on the side of the America developed anticyclonic circulation. On the other hand, in 1993, in the westerly phase of QBO, an impact of the Pinatubo eruption was so great that a sudden warming in the stratosphere did not occur from winter through spring and a strong cold air mass was still accumulated over the Arctic Circle in summer. Therefore, Tibetan highs and upper high pressures over the U.S.A. were both weak. Compared with the two cool summers in 2003 and 1993 from the viewpoint of the atomospheric circulation, we found similarities and diversities. The ridges in the Far East at the 500hPa geopotential height developed continually beginning in the mid-july and it strengthened Okhotsk highs in the both years. However, in 2003, the Far East ridges were developed from early June by a blocking high which originated in subtropical high pressure zone. At the 100hPa geopotential height in the middle latitudes, negative anomalies were dominant in both years. In 1993 when the influence of the Pinatubo eruption was remarkable, a higher continuity of negative anomalies was detected. 9 2003 年冷夏の総観気候学的解析が 1993 年より強いといえる図 9に2003年と1993年の100 hpa高度場を示している 100 hpa 高度場において各月ともにチベット高気圧の中心に特徴がみられた 6 月のチベット高気圧は 2003 年の方が西偏しているその一方で7月は1993年が双峰型 2003年がイランモード Zhang and Qian, 2002 であった 8 月は 1993 年は広範囲に広がっているのに対して 2003 年は東進してチベットモードになっているしかし両年ともにチベット高気圧は弱い 6 月の成層圏下部においても極域での高気圧が強くアジア方面へ張り出していた成層圏下部の 100 hpa 高度場において 1993 年は 6 月から 8 月にかけてチベット高原上空にチベット高気圧の中心が存在しているしかし 2003 年はチベット高原上空にチベット高気圧が存在している月は 8 月のみである Zhang and Qian 2002 によれば 100 hpa 高度場におけるチベット高気圧の中心がチベット高原の上空に存在すると東アジアで冷夏と降水量の増加をもたらすチベット高気圧の中心がチベット高原上空で持続したことも 1993 年における低温の長期化と夏季における降水量の増加の一因と考えられる図 6 5 月における 50 hpa 高度場の東西風成分暖色系が西風成分寒色系が東風成分である a は 1993 年 5 月 b は 2003 年 5 月単位は m/s 6 3 突然昇温と 30 hpa 高度場成層圏突然昇温は 1 月から 3 月にかけて発生している表 8 の a に 1993 年 1 月から 2 月 b に 2003 年の 1 月から2月の30 hpa高度場における気温分布を示していると示す 22事例中15 事例でWパターンもしくはEパター 2003 年は 1 月 9 日 15 日の間に東シベリアの 130 E付ンとなっている W E パターンとなっているのは 1985 近で 20 の突然昇温が起きている一方 1993 年は 1 年 1990 年 1998 年と合わせて 4 事例だけであった週間に気温が 20 以上も上昇するような突然昇温は起 2003 年の熱帯成層圏の東西風は特異な状況を呈していこっていない小規模な昇温は 1 月 27 日 2 月 1 日 2 月たといえる 20 日 24 日の 2 度発生しているこのことから 2003 年と 1993 年の違いが認められる 6 2 図 10に30 hpa高度場の偏差を示した a c e より夏季の成層圏循環図 7 は 1993 年と 2003 年の 50 hpa 高度場を示している 1993 年は北半球の中高緯度において負偏差が卓越して 50 hpa 高度場において 7 月および 8 月は北極上空からのいるしかし 2003 年は b d f より極域に正偏差低高気圧の張り出しが 1993 年はアジア方面 2003 年はア中緯度で負偏差となっているまた春から夏にかけてメリカ方面と対照的となっているまた極高気圧の中極域の正偏差がアメリカ側に寄っておりアジアの中緯心部の高度場は 2003 年の方が 1993 年より高いまた度帯で負偏差となっていることも特徴的である 2003 年はアメリカ上空に高圧帯がみられるが 1993 年は明瞭でない 2003 年と 1993 年の下部成層圏における循環の違いは成層圏突然昇温の発生の有無も影響しているのではない図 8 に 1993 年と 2003 年の 70 hpa 高度場を示しているかと考えられる Matuno 1971 は成層圏突然昇温が 70 hpa 高度場において 7 月および 8 月は 1993 年には明発生すると極渦の崩壊が起こりやすいことを大気大循環瞭にみられないアメリカ付近の高圧帯が 2003 年には認モデルで再現しているが実際に突然昇温が発生しためられているこれは 50 hpa 高度場のアメリカ方面へ 2003 年は極渦が弱くなった加えて熱帯東風も作用し伸びるリッジとも対応しているまたチベット高気圧アメリカ上空における高気圧を発生させた一つの要因との上限付近に相当するがその観点からは 2003 年の方考えられる一方 1993 年は突然昇温が発生しなかった

15 2003 年冷夏の総観気候学的解析 N N 図 E 南北断面でみた 1993 年左 2003 年右 6 8 月の半旬別気圧高度偏差の推移 a 100 hpa 高度 gpm b 500 hpa 高度 gpm c 地上気圧 hpa 寒色系は負偏差暖色系は正偏差を示す a b 60gpm 間隔 c 4 hpa 間隔著となっていることであるこの状況は明らかにとから極側から日本へ寒気が流入したこと換言 1993 年の方が卓越しており 8 割は負偏差で極渦の発すると多数の寒冷渦が日本付近を通過したことも達が認められるこの原因は 1991 年 6 月 15 日のフィリ要因と考えられるピンピナトゥボ火山の大噴火によって成層圏に注入さ ② 8 月の冷夏の要因は東日本から北日本において前れたエアロゾルに起因するパラソル効果の影響とし線が存在し特に東日本において停滞前線が多く出て認識される Yamakawa 1997 山川 1997 両年で現したためでありその結果同地域における降水共通する 6 月の負偏差は 6 /30 7 /4 の 75 N 付近にあ量が飛躍的に増えたと考えられるりその頃の極渦の張り出しが冷夏を予兆している可能 ③ 性がある熱帯成層圏下部の東西風がアジア上空では西風であったためチベット高気圧の東方への張り出しが弱く東アジアの冷夏につながったと考えられる 8 結果のまとめと考察その一方で太平洋からアメリカの成層圏下部の東 2003 年の冷夏の要因を考察すると以下のようになっ西風が東風でありアメリカから大西洋にかけてのた ① 高気圧の強化につながったと考えられる 7 月の冷夏の要因はオホーツク海高気圧指数が高指 ④ オホーツク海高気圧の卓越が 500 hpa 極東リッジよ数であり地上においても高気圧が多く出現していり先行し現われていることからその前のオホーツることからオホーツク海高気圧が卓越していたこク海の海氷発達に伴うオホーツク海とその周辺の冷とであるさらに西太平洋亜熱帯高気圧指数が大水域が同高気圧の形成に例年以上に作用したと考きい値を示していることから北太平洋高気圧が南察される偏していたことも冷夏の一因であると推測される ⑤ 極域での寒気は強く東方海上高度は値が大きいこ 155 オホーツク海高気圧を卓越させた極東リッジの持続には北太平洋高気圧の北偏ブロッキング化のプ 101
