6 Page 6 Are you Not Spending Time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Because You Don t Know What to Do For an Hour? Here is help! How to Pray a Holy Hour in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament: A Holy Hour is a period of time set apart for God. A time to put yourself in the His presence and let Him love you and lead you; a time to allow yourself to be conformed to Christ. A simple method for praying a holy hour is by following a pyramidal structure: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 15 minutes and 5 minutes. First 5 minutes: Opening PrayerThis is a time of quiet prayer before the Lord. Praise Him and ask for His mercy and pardon for all the sins you have committed. Quiet your heart and soul. Next 15 minutes: Spiritual ReadingDuring this time, read a passage from the Bible, the Mass readings, or a spiritual book. Use the 15 minutes to turn your mind to God and to discover how what you are reading relates to your current life. Next 20 minutes: Silent PrayerTalk to Jesus! He is present in the Blessed Sacrament before you. He s listening. Bring before him whatever is on your heart and mind. Share with the Lord your honest thoughts and concerns. Ask Him questions. Then, and most importantly, give the Lord the space to respond as you listen in silence. Next 15 minutes: IntercessionPray for your own deliverance, for each member of your family, for your friends, your Parish, the Church, our Country, those who are lost and lonely and have no one to pray for them and for anyone else for whom you want to pray. continued next column Parish Life The Last 5 minutes: ThanksgivingWe have so much to be thankful for each day. Acknowledge God s gifts to you, the graces you have received and the people God has put in your life to help you. Pray for the grace to carry out the work you have been given to do and that you become more aware of God s active presence in your life, and to learn how you, in return, can help others. Thank God for all the graces you have not yet received, but are intended for you if you cooperate with God s grace. Finally, ask Mary, Mother of Jesus and all the saints to intercede for you throughout this day. Think about signing up for an hour of Adoration each week, or to be a substitute for the scheduled adorers. The hour goes by quickly. Don t miss the opportunity to spend time with Him and leave with a sense of peace and good will. The Eucharistic Adoration Ministry is in need of more adorers especially for the 12:30 or 1:30 pm hours Monday through Friday. Call Lucy Gatza for more details. 13 Worship Aid Page 13 Penitential Act I confess to almighty God and to you my brothers and sisters that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do. (strike the breast ) through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask Blessed Mary, evervirgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Gloria Refrain: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Refrain Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us, you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. Refrain For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Refrain Amen Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (bow head) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his Kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen Preparation of the Gifts May the Lord accept the Sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all his Holy Church. Invitation to Communion Behold the lamb of God Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. Agnus Dei ~ Lamb of God Agnus Dei, qui tolis peccatamundi, Miserere nobis.(2x) Agnus Dei, qui tolis peccata mundi, Dona nobis pacem. O Salutaris Hostia O salutaris Hostia Qua caeli pandis ostium: Bella premunt hostilia, Da robur, fer auxilium Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna gloria, Qui vitam sine termino Nobis donet in patria.

14 Page 14 Scripture readings A Reading from the Book of Daniel Dn 7:1314 As the visions during the night continued, I saw one like a Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven; when he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed. Responsorial Psalm Psalm 93 R\. Lord is king; he is robed in majesty. The LORD is king, in splendor robed; robed is the LORD and girt about with strength. R\. Lord is king; he is robed in majesty. And he has made the world firm, not to be moved. Your throne stands firm from of old; from everlasting you are, O LORD. R\. Lord is king; he is robed in majesty. Your decrees are worthy of trust; indeed, holiness befits your house, O LORD, for length of days. R\. The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty. A Reading from the Book of Revelation Rv 1:58 Jesus Christ is the faithful witness the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen. Continued next column "I am the Alpha and the Omega, " says the Lord God, "the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty." A Reading from the Holy Gospel According to John Jn 18:33b37 Pilate said to Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered, "Do you say this on your own or have others told you about me?" Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?" Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here." So, Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."
