4 Intaractive terrain generation within Immersive Modeling System 3 Ryutarou Morimoto Abstract This paper presents an immersive modeling system for generating 3-D terrain models of mountain scenery. In the proposed system, a user can design 3-D terrain models by drawing external forms of terrain on the 2-D plane of the sloped rear-projection display and pulling a mountaintop in 3-D space. As a result, complicated arbitrary terrain models are generated easily and eciently by repeating these intuitive operations.
