This is the part of the first panel research of the K market mall. K market mall is the major market mall street in Kyoto, which has a long history. It played an important role in terms of society, economic and culture in Kyoto. Many members of the market mall have started their business before

156 16 WWII; on the other hand it invites many new comers: about 10% of the shops started their business within a year. This research shows that many shops disappointed about the drops of the business in K market mall for the last 10 years. It was affected by both internalclosure of land mark shops, increase of amusement facilities which open all night and external factorsmany fashionable shopping malls open in Kyoto and Osaka. Historically, K shopping mall was known as the shopping malls for students, but seemingly the shopping malls lost its icon these days.
