She was referred by an oral surgeon with the complaints of occlusal discomfort and dysgeusia after treatment of fixed partial denture FPD in another dental clinic 2 years previously. As the treatment strategy, fabrication of new FPDs for the right and left sides of the mandible following reversible prosthodontic treatment including self-cure resin build-up was proposed. In the process of the FPD fabrication, a double-cast technique was adopted to ensure precise and favorable occlusion. With occlusal improvement, not only the occlusal discomfort but also the taste discomfort disappeared. A precise functional occlusal surface provides peripheral factors suitable for the intraoral environment, which may affect occlusal discomfort.
