Six Years Activities of the Research Organization for Regional Alliances Masaaki Kusumi (Received: May 1st, 2015) Research Organization for Regional Alliances, Kochi University of Technology, 185 Tosayamadacho-Miyanokuchi, Kami, Kochi, 782 8502, JAPAN E-mail: kusumi.masaaki@kochi-tech.ac.jp Abstract: In this article we describe the activities and the achievements of the Research Organization for Regional Alliances (RORA), which started six years ago, with the mission of strengthening the regional contribution of the KUT under its new form of publicly-funded university. In the section 2, project leaders of the laboratories summarized their activities describing the projects process and results, as well as their philosophy on the roll of the university in the region from their long term experiences. In the section 3, based on the reports in the previous section, we discuss the possibility of strategic regional contribution, the concept proposed at the start of the RORA, in which the university and its researchers are the responsible entity in charge of the future welfare of regional community. 22
