March 2011 127 Memoir of Osaka University talked by Professor Emeritus Teiichiro Nakano Toshimitsu Nakao, Masaki Kan and Takeshi Abe This is a record of the talk of Professor Emeritus Teiichiro Nakano related to the history of the Faculty of Law at Osaka University. Professor Nakano, who was born in 1924, majored in law at Tokyo Imperial University and graduated from it, became Assistant Professor at the newly established Faculty of Law and Economics at Osaka University in 1949. Although he once quit it in order to be trained as a lawyer in 1951, he again get the job of Lecturer at the faculty in April in 1953. After the faculty was divided into Faculty of Law and that of Economics in August of the same year, Professor Nakano was promoted to Associate Professor, Professor, Senator and Dean at the Faculty of Law. He fostered many students, conducted his research about the law of civil procedure, and made a great effort to advise the Osaka University as the specialist of law. He became Professor Emeritus in 1989 and a member of the Japan Academy in 1998, and even at the time of this interview taught young graduate students of Law School at Osaka University.
