Ⅴ 次 の 英 文 を 読 んで 後 の 設 問 に 答 えなさい My good friend was getting married in Kyoto. She kindly invited me and I was both excited and nervous. I had never attended a Japanese wedding before. Another Japanese friend showed me how to prepare the gift money, goshugi, by getting brand-new notes at the bank. I had to carefully write my name on the envelope. It impressed me that using new notes meant I was ready for the wedding. Her wedding was one of the most beautiful weddings I had ever attended. The bride changed clothes twice. First was an elegant white kimono, then she wore a gorgeous red kimono. I felt I was experiencing traditional Japan. The next was a modern blue dress. I could really feel that Japanese culture is a mix of past and present. There was a special ceremony. A vase containing roses was placed at the back of the hall and the couple took turns to call out the names of twelve guests who had taught them different things. The groom started by calling his mother, who had taught him the meaning of love. His mother took a rose from the vase and walked toward her son as he gave a thank-you speech. Finally she handed the rose to him. At the end of this ceremony, the groom presented a bouquet of roses to his wife. She then put one rose from the bouquet and placed it into his shirt pocket. I realized that the bouquet was made from the roses given by each special guest. How amazing! Many people cried at the heartwarming speeches. Even more guests cried as the couple gave their thank-you speeches to their parents. By the time the wedding ended, the sky was dark. It was a typical Kyoto winter, but I felt warm on this special day of love. Tan Ying Zhen "A Celebration of Love," The Japan Times ST January 30, 2015( 一 部 改 変 ). - 英 語 7-
