89 JOHN.E.GOODMAN This course is designed to introduce students to basic spoken and written English. By using classroom computers, students will become more familiar with English vocabulary and grammar, and spoken and written content. The primary aim of this class is to help students develop basic English skills that will be of practical use both academically and culturally. An additional aim is to help students increase their ability to use a computer skillfully, and use internet resources for learning and research. An overall basic aim is for students to develop touch-typing skills so that using a computer keyboard becomes second nature. The instructor presents topics and demonstrates study methods using classroom computer displays and relevant software. Students use selected software and internet sites for study and practice. Individual coaching and instruction is provided, with an emphasis on guided study and practice. Explain course guidelines, gather student information.
