Carex aenea Fernard, C. gravida L.H.Bailey var. lunelliana (Mack.) F.J.Herm. and C. fissa Mack. newly naturalized in Japan. C. aenea and C. fissa were collected from Tama-shi, Tokyo Metropolis, and C. gravida from Asao-ku, Kawasaki, Kanagawa prefecture and Tamashi. They all are natives of North America and were probably brought to Japan together with seeds of grasses for slope plantation.
