Learning does not only happen inside classrooms and schools. It also happens outside. We can learn in many different ways and formal schooling is just one of them. At a very young age, we learn how to crawl, stand, and walk by exploring and playing. As we grow up, we learn how to deal with people and communicate with others through informal interactions. As we go through our daily tasks, we become knowledgeable of how to effectively do and simplify things by trial and error. Working closely with an expert helps us learn the necessary things we need to know to effectively carry out our duties and responsibilities at work. Education can take place in many different settings both formal and informal. School provides opportunities to learn new things, normally in a structured manner, but experience allows us to apply and polish what we learn. B. Quick Q&A (2-3 minutes) 1. When was the last time you attended a class in school? 2. What is/was your favorite subject in school? Why? 3. Do you approve of children being homeschooled? Why or why not? 4. In your country, what is the average number of students per classroom? 5. In your country, is it necessary to get a college degree to find work? Why or why not? P a g e 2
