英語 Japanese food (Okonomiyaki) A:What s one food you think people should try when they come to Japan? B:Well, I really like a dish called okonomiyaki. A:I ve never tried that before. What is it? B:It s kind of like a pancake, but it isn t as sweet. Not only is it delicious, but it s fun to make too! Normally when you go to an okonomiyaki restaurant, you order just the raw ingredients. Then you cook it yourself on a hot plate at the table. The base ingredients are flour, cabbage, and egg. But other than that, you can put anything you like in it! Okonomiyaki means cook what you like in Japanese. Some people like lots of fresh seafood, like octopus and squid. Other people prefer meat. This probably sounds weird, but I really like it with cheese and kimchi. You know, the spicy Korean pickled cabbage? Anyway, you mix it all together and cook it at the table. When it s done, you add the toppings. Usually we put sauce, fish flakes, seaweed, and mayonnaise on top. It s a lot of different flavors, but they all go well together! A:That sounds really good! B:It is! Also, there are two kinds of okonomiyaki, Hiroshima style and Kansai style. Hiroshima style is very thin, and is cooked on top of a bed of noodles. Kansai style is much thicker, and it doesn't contain any noodles. Most people really like one style or the other. I think they re both delicious so I can t decide which one I like more!
