Abstract: There are many slums that are called pueblo joven or barriadas in Lima, Peru. As for the first half of the th century, the slums were unfolding in the middle and Rimac riverside of the city area. However, in the second half of the th century, many people came from the rural area of Peru to Lima, and numerous barriadas started to unfold in the Lima area. About,, people, which is about % of about,, people, the overall population of Lima city in, were residents of the barriadas. The houses are made with reed blind or adobe because of its desert climate. About % of the poverty layer is living in the urban region of Peru. This paper reports the change of the illegal district of Limas periphery, including a report of a Japanese couple living in barriadas.
