For Your Safety Working safely with this machine is possible only when the operating and safety information is read completely and the instructions contained therein are strictly followed. In addition, the general safety notes in the enclosed booklet must be observed. Before using for the first time, ask for a practical demonstration. If the cable is damaged or cut through while working, do not touch the cable and pull the plug immediately. Never use the machine with a damaged cable. Wear protective glasses and ear protection. The dust that is produced while working can be detrimental to health, inflammable or explosive. Suitable safety measures are required. Examples: Some dusts are regarded as carcinogenic. Use suitable dust-/chip extraction and wear a dust mask. Dust from light alloys can burn or explode. Always keep the work place clean, as blends of materials are particularly dangerous. Wear protective gloves and sturdy shoes. When necessary, also ware an apron. Connect machines used outdoors via a residual current device (RCD) with a maximum triggering current of 30 ma. Use only extension cables that are intended for outdoor use. When working with the machine, always hold it firmly with both hands and make sure you are in a secure standing position. Always direct the cable to the rear away from the machine. Always switch off the machine and allow it to come to a stop before putting it down. Insert the power plug only when the machine is switched off. In case of mains failure or when the main plug is pulled, unlock the On/Off switch immediately and turn it to the off position. This prevents uncontrolled restarting. The machine should only be used only for dry cutting/grinding. For all work done with the machine, the auxiliary handle 4 must be mounted. 7 6ヲ C74 6ヲ1 TMS 6ヲ English - 2

13 Hold electric tools by their insulated handles whenever there is the possibility of touching hidden wires or the tools6 5 own cords while using them. Touching a ーlive ア wire can transfer the voltage to the exposed metal parts of the tool and give the operator an electric shock. Do not drill, saw or cut in blind areas where there could be hidden electric, gas or water lines. Use the appropriate detectors to find these lines in the work area or call the local utility company for assistance. Touching electric lines may cause fire or electric shock. Striking a gas line will probably result in an explosion. Breaking into a water pipe will cause property damage or may cause an electric shock. The protective hood 6 must be mounted when working with roughing or cutting discs. When working with the rubber sanding plate 19 or with the cup brush 22/disc brush/flap disc, we recommend you to mount the hand protector 17 (optional extra). When working with stone, use a vacuum cleaner for removing dust. The vacuum cleaner must be approved for removing masonry dust. When cutting stone, use the cutting guide. Don ッt work with materials containing asbestos. Use only grinding tools whose allowable speed is at least as high as the idling speed of the machine. Check grinding tools before use. The grinding tool must be properly mounted and turn freely. Perform a test run for at least 30 seconds without load. Do not use damaged, out-of-round or vibrating grinding tools. Protect the grinding wheel from impact, shock and grease. Apply the machine to the workpiece only when switched on. Keep hands away from rotating grinding tools. Pay attention to the direction of rotation. Always hold the machine so that sparks and grinding dust fly away from the body. When grinding metal, flying sparks are produced. Take care that no persons are endangered. Because of a possible fire hazard, no combustible materials should be nearby (spark flying zone). Be careful when cutting grooves, e. g. in loadcarrying walls: See the information on statics. Blocking the cutting disc leads to a strong jerking reaction of the machine. If this happens, switch off the machine immediately. Pay attention to the dimensions of the grinding disc. The mounting hole diameter must fit the mounting flange 9 without play. Do not use reducer pieces or adapters. Never use cutting discs for rough grinding. Do not exert any lateral pressure on the cutting discs. Observe the manufacturer ョs instructions regarding mounting and use of grinding tools. Caution! The grinding wheel keeps running after the machine has been switched off. Do not tighten the machine in a vise. Never allow children to use the machine. Bosch can only guarantee a flawless functioning of the machine if the original accessories intended for it are used. Intended Use The machine is intended for cutting, roughing and brushing metal and stone materials without using water. For cutting stone, a cutting guide is required. Information about Statics Slots in load-carrying walls are subject to Part 1 of the German Industrial Standard (DIN) No. 1053, or to country-specific regulations. These regulations are to be observed under all circumstances. Before beginning work, consult the responsible structural engineer, architects or the construction supervisor. 8 6ヲ C74 6ヲ1 TMS 6ヲ English - 3

13Mounting the Protective Devices Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power plug. The protective hood 6 must be mounted when working with roughing or cutting discs. Protective hood with clamping screw The coded projection 14 on the hood 6 ensures that only a hood that fits a specific machine type can be mounted on it. Loosen the clamping screw 13, if necessary. Place the hood 6 with coded projection 14 into the coded groove on the spindle collar of the machine head and rotate to the required position (working position). The closed side of the protective hood 6 must always point to the operator. Tighten clamping screw 13. Protective hood with quick clamp (Optional Extra) The wheel guard is preadjusted to the diameter of the spindle collar. If required, the 7 4 tightening tension of the clamping bracket can be changed by tightening or loosening the adjustment screw 7. Always ensure that the wheel guard 6 sits tightly tightly on the spindle collar. Open the clamping lever 8. Place the protective hood 6 on the spindle collar of the machine head and turn to the required position (working position). To fasten the protective hood 6, close the clamping lever 8. The closed side of the protective hood 6 must always point to the operator. Auxiliary Handle For all work done with the machine, the auxiliary handle 4 must be mounted. Depending on the chosen working method, screw the auxiliary handle 4 into the head of the machine. Auxiliary handle with vibration absorption (Optional Extra) The vibration-dampening auxiliary handle reduces vibrations, making its operation safer and more comfortable. Do not make any alterations to the auxiliary handle. Do not continue to use an auxiliary handle if it is damaged. Hand Protector (Optional Extra) When working with the rubber sanding plate 19 or with the cup brush 22/disc brush/flap disc, we recommend you to mount the hand protector 17 (optional extra). The hand protector 17 is fastened with the auxiliary handle 4. Mounting the Grinding Tools (Optional Extra) Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power plug. Use only grinding tools whose allowable speed is at least as high as the idling speed of the machine. Since roughing and cutting discs become very hot while working, do not touch them until they have cooled. Clean the grinder spindle and all parts to be mounted. For clamping and loosening the grinding tools, lock the grinder spindle 5 with the spindle locking button 2. Activate the spindle locking button 2 only when the grinder spindle is at a standstill! Roughing/Cutting Disc Pay attention to the dimensions of the grinding disc. The mounting hole diameter must fit the mounting flange 9 without play. Do not use reducer pieces or adapters. When using a diamond cutting disc, take care that the direction of rotation arrow on the diamond cutting disc and the direction of rotation of the machine (direction of rotation arrow on the machine head) agree. For mounting, see the illustration page. 9 6ヲ C74 6ヲ1 TMS 6ヲ English - 4

13Screw on the clamping nut 11 and tighten with the two-hole spanner (see Section ーQuick Clamping Nut ア). An O-ring (plastic part) is inserted in the retainer mounting flange 9 around 9 the spigot. If the O-ring is missing or damaged, it will have to be replaced (Stock No ) before the retainer mounting flange 9 is mounted. After mounting the grinding tool but before switching it on, check that the 7 4 grinding tool is correctly mounted and that it can turn freely. Flap disc Remove the protective hood 6 and mount the hand protector 17. Place the special retainer mounting flange 9 (optional extra, Stock No ) and the flap disc on the grinder spindle 5. Screw on the clamping nut 11 and tighten with the two-hole spanner. Rubber Sanding Plate 19 Remove the protective hood 6 and mount the hand protector 17. Prior to mounting the rubber sanding plate 19, place the 2 spacing discs 18 onto the grinding spindle. For mounting, see the illustration page. Screw on the round nut 21 and tighten with the two-hole spanner. Cup Brush 22/Disc brush Remove the protective hood 6 and mount the hand protector 17. The grinding tool must be screwed onto the grinding spindle 5 until it rests firmly against the grinder spindle flange at the end of the grinder spindle threads. Tighten with an open-ended spanner. Grinding cup When working with grinding cups, use a special protective hood for the grinding cup 15. The grinding cup 16 should protrude from the hood 15 only as far and as long as absolutely necessary to perform the work. Reset the protective hood 15 to this distance. For mounting, see the illustration page. Screw on the clamping nut 11 and tighten with a suitable offset two-hole spanner. Approved Grinding Tools All grinding tools described in these operating instructions can be used (roughing and cutting discs of synthetic resin-bonded, fiber-reinforced material). The permissible speed [rpm] or the circumferential speed [m/s] of the grinding tools used must correspond minimally to the values given in the table. For this reason, always observe the permissible rotational/circumferential speed on the label of the grinding tool. b D b d D d D max. [mm] [mm] D b d [rpm] [m/s] ィC ィC The quick clamping nut 12 (optional extra) can be used instead of the clamping nut 11. Grinding tools can be mounted without using tools. The quick clamping nut 12 may be used only for roughing and cutting discs. Use only a flawless, undamaged quick clamping nut 12. When screwing on, take care that the printed side does not point to the grinding disc. The arrow must point to the index mark 28. ィC ィC M Quick Clamping Nut (Optional Extra) 10 6ヲ C74 6ヲ1 TMS 6ヲ English - 5

Initial Operation Lock the grinder spindle with the spindle locking button 2. Tighten the quick clamping nut by forcefully turning the grinding disc clockwise. A properly tightened and undamaged quick clamping nut can be loosened by turning the knurled ring counter-clockwise. Never loosen a tightened quick clamping nut with pliers. Instead, use a two-hole spanner. Insert the two-hole spanner as shown in the illustration. Always use the correct voltage: The voltage of the power source must agree with the values on the nameplate of the machine. Switching On and Off To start the unit, push the On/Off switch 3 forwards but without pressing it, then press it down. To lock on, push the pressed On/Off switch 3 further forwards. To switch the unit off, release the On/Off switch 3 or push and release it then. Switch configuration without lock (specific countries): To start the unit, push the On/Off switch 3 forwards but without pressing it, then press it down. To switch off the unit, release the On/Off switch 3. Test run! 7 4 Check the grinding tool before use. The grinding tool must be flawlessly mounted and be able to rotate freely. Perform a test run of at least 30 seconds without load. Do not use damaged or vibrating grinding tools. Starting Current Limiting (Type J) As a result of controlled starting of the machine, a 16 A fuse is adequate. A machine that lacks a residual current delimitation needs a higher degree of fuse protection (put in at least a 16 A delayed action fuse). Operating Instructions Clamp down the workpiece if it does not stay in place owing to its own weight. Do not load the machine so heavily that it comes to a standstill. Since roughing and cutting discs become very hot while working, do not touch them until they have cooled. Rough Grinding The best roughing results can be achieved with a 30 to 40 approach angle. Move the machine back and forth with moderate pressure. In this manner, the work piece will not overly heat up nor discolor and no ridges will be formed. Never use a cutting disc for roughing. Flap disc The flap disc (optional extra) can be used for working on curved surfaces and profiles (contour sanding). Flap discs have a considerably higher service life than sanding sheets, a lower noise level and lower sanding temperatures. Cutting When cutting, do not press, tilt or oscillate. Gently slide it forward with a speed adapted to the material being worked on. Do not brake cutting discs that are slowing down to a stop by using side pressure. 11 6ヲ C74 6ヲ1 TMS 6ヲ English - 6

13The cutting direction is very important. The machine must always work opposite to the direction of rotation. Therefore, never move the machine in the other direction! Otherwise, there is the danger of it being pushed uncontrolled out of the cut. Cutting Grinder Stand With the cutting grinder stand 27 (optional extra), work pieces of equal length can be cut at 0 to 45 angles. The safety notes and operating instructions in the corresponding operating instructions manual of the angle grinder are to be strictly observed. Use only original Bosch grinder stands. The vacuum cleaner must be approved for the vacuuming of masonry dust. Bosch provides suitable vacuum cleaners. Switch on the machine and place the front part of the cutting guide on the workpiece. Gently slide the machine forward with a speed adapted to the material to be worked on (Figure). For cutting especially hard materials, e. g., concrete with high gravel content, the diamond cutting disc can overheat and become damaged as a result. This is indicated clearly by a ring of sparks that rotates with the diamond cutting disc. In this case, interrupt the cutting process and allow the diamond cutting disc to cool by letting it run freely at a no-load speed for a short time. A noticeable drop in work performance and a rotating spark ring indicate that the diamond cutting disc has become dull. It can be resharpened with brief cuts in an abrasive material (e. g., chalky sand stone). Rotating the Machine Head 27 Cutting Stone The machine should only be used only for dry cutting/grinding. It is best to use a diamond cutting-off wheel. To prevent the tool from tilting, use the guide block 24 with special extraction protective hood. Operate the machine only with the dust extraction device. In addition, wear a dust protection mask. Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power plug. The machine head can be rotated in 90 steps with respect to the machine housing. By doing this, the On/Off switch can be brought to a better position for special working situations, e. g., for cutting work with the cutting guide 24/cutting grinder stand 27 (optional extra) or for left-handed persons. Unscrew the four screws completely. Rotate the machine head carefully and without removing it from the housing bring it to its new position. Screw in the screws again and tighten. 12 6ヲ C74 6ヲ1 TMS 6ヲ English - 7

13Turning the machine handle (GWS 24/26-180/230 (J)B) 7ノ7 25 7ノ6 The handle 26 can be turned 90 either to the left or right with respect to the motor housing. This enables the On/Off switch to be brought to a better operating position for certain working situations, e. g. for cutting work with the guide block/ cutting stand (optional extra) and for left-handers. Pull the handle unlocking button 25 firmly in the direction of the arrow (7ノ6), turning the handle 26 to the desired position (7ノ7) at the same time until it notches. The figure shows handle 26 turned by 90. The handle unlocking button 25 and the 7 4 On/Off switch 3 have a safety interlock. The machine cannot be switched on if the handle 26 is not notched in one of the three possible positions. The handle 26 cannot be unlocked if the On/Off switch 3 is locked. Maintenance and Cleaning 26 Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power plug. For safe and proper working, always keep 7 4 the machine and the ventilation slots clean. Under extreme working conditions, conductive dust can accumulate in the interior of the machine when working with metals, wich can impair the protective insulation of the machine.therefore, in such cases it is recommended that stationary dust extraction equipment be used as well as the frequent blowing out of the ventilation slots and the installation of a residual current device (RCD). Should the machine fail in spite of careful manufacturing and testing, its repair should be carried out by a Bosch power tools authorized service agent. For all correspondence and spare parts orders, always include the 10-digit order number of the machine! Guarantee We guarantee Bosch appliances in accordance with statutory/country-specific regulations (proof of purchase by invoice or delivery note). Damage attributable to normal wear and tear, overload or improper handling will be excluded from the guarantee. In case of a claim, please send the machine, fully assembled, to your dealer or the Bosch Service Center for electric power tools. Environmental Protection Recycle raw materials instead of disposing them as waste. The machine, its accessories and packaging materials should be sorted for environmentallyfriendly recycling. These instructions are printed on chlorine-free recycled paper. The plastic components are labeled for categorized recycling. Noise/Vibration Information Measured values determined according to EN The A-weighted noise levels of the tool are typically: Sound pressure level: 90 db (A); sound power level: 103 db (A). Wear ear protection! The weighted acceleration is typically 5.5 m/s 2. When using the auxiliary handle with vibration absorption, the hand/arm vibration of the power tool used is typically less than 2.5 m/s ヲ C74 6ヲ1 TMS 6ヲ English - 8
