123 English Operating Instructions Installing the battery See the illustrations in the Japanese text (page 13). Install one R03 (size AAA) dry battery into the battery compartment. 1 Open the battery compartment lid. 2 Install the battery with the correct polarity. 3 Close the lid. 4 Press the reset button using a sharp-pointed object. When the battery becomes weak The indication appears on the screen. Replace the battery with new one, or the battery will be dead and this unit may not operate correctly. Battery life With one battery, this unit will operate for about 45 hours (alkaline LR03 battery), or about 18 hours (manganese R03 battery). Auto power off function To conserve the battery, this unit automatically turns off if it remains idle for 3, 7, or 15 minutes. The auto power off timer can be set on the setting screen (page 92). Adjusting the contrast To adjust the screen contrast, use the CONTRAST control. Moving it rightward increases the contrast, whereas moving it leftward decreases the contrast.
