In memory of Prof. Moshe Kochavi Yitzhak Paz To my beloved brothers of the Japanese Expedition, dear Prof. Kanaseki and everyone who knew Kochavisensei. I would like to say few words for the memorial event. On the 9th of this month I gave my lecture in Rome at the ICAANE conference where I presented the excavations at Tel Rekhesh, and I dedicated it to the memory of Prof. Kochavi. Prof. Kochavi was one of what we designate in Israel generation of giants, people who actually participated in the building activities of our country. I had the honor and pleasure to learn from Kochavi both at class and in the field. His great knowledge but also modest behavior are very rare combination nowadays, where brutal competition and scarce resources for Israeli academic world do not enable scholars to be generous, modest and kind, the way Kochavi was. It is hard that we lost both Gill Covo and Prof. Kochavi within the last five years, but I get a lot of comfort when I look at you my friends, that in every aspect you follow Kochavi's way, and I am so proud to be part of this unique Japanese-Israeli relationship. In my view, our expedition becomes more and more professional and worthy to the high standards marked by Kochavi. Our expedition unifies researchers from many academic institutes, all share the same goals and above all, forms a large group of friends, that to me is no less than a second family. It is sad that we lost Kochavi-sensei, but his heritage will forever live with us and guide our way. Yours forever, my brothers, Itzik.
