Abstract Designing a Pen-based Application for Note-Taking and Informal Presentations Ryusuke UETA Paper, pen, and keyboard were used a lot in real world and desktop world. In recent years,a lot of information personal digital assistants of digital pens appeared. Yang had developed a system named SketchPoint that allows users to perform note-taking freely and give presentations informally. The SketchPoint assists system for note-taking and informal presentation. This system can be applied by two areas: note-taking area and presentation area. However, the usability of SketchPoint is still not very clear. The purpose of this study is to design a pen-based application for note-taking and informal presentations. Therefore,we carried out two kinds of usability studies with experiment 1-3: lab testing and field study. First, the experiment 1 was about the first system evaluation. Next, the experiment 2 was about note-taking areas system improvement. Finally, the experiment 3 was about the presentation areas system improvement. The implementation of our results led us redesign SketchPoint for improving its usability. Moreover,we added Pie-menu and new deleting function, slide changing function. key words Human-computer Interaction,Pen-based Interface,Note-taking,Sketch- Point,Lab testing, field study ii
