Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Cloud Computing: A Comparison of Cloud Computing and On-premise System Kazuhiro KONNO This paper examines advantages and problems of cloud computing (hereafter Cloud) and compares it with on-premise (or in-house) system. At first, we describe our definition, five essential features, and two methods for classification of Cloud. Second, we point out seven advantages of Cloud. Third, we explain six risks included and relevant problems of Cloud. Forth, we describe four typical cases in which Cloud is preferred. Finally, we propose hybrid-type system and touch on remaining questions. 33
