( ) Summary Visiting the Minorities, Located along The Tea and Horse Road, on the West-North Part of Yunnan, CHINA Takashi Kamiyama Yunnan Forum From 4 to 12 November 2010, I visited small ethnic groups (Yis, Bais, Naxis, Tibetans) living in the west-north part of Yunnan Prefecture, Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La along the ancient road known as The Tea & Horse Road. I was able to observe and identify the life and culture of the small ethnic groups who are living peacefully with the neighboring societies along the river side of The Jinsha River, on the mountain hills, planes, lakesides, and valleys. I was highly impressed by their unique cultural heritage living harmoniously with the ecological environments as well as their livelihoods. During this visit, I was also interested in comparing their cultural heritage with that of Japanese, which may have common historical backgrounds as being in East Asia. 340
