This paper is going to take up the "Cultural history of dishes" as a part of the "Ancient pulley and the Korean people series II". In the ancient times the pulley was used to make basically dishes for Buddist altar and similar tablewares. In the meantimes these items become part of the daily life of the people, therefore I personally developed and interest concerning these vessels and tablewares. The main reason why I took up the theme of "Ancient pulley and the Korean people" is to understand the pulley itself and the details of their work. During the process, I assumed that by dealing with the pulley, I would understand the history of dishes and tablewares. The pulley connected with woodenwares, however comparing the woodenwares to the earthenwares and stonewares, the share of woodenwares are very small. It become clear that using only the excavated materials and the items passed by generations, it is very difficult unearth the history of woodenwares. However, one can understand that the people in the ancient times used the combination of earthenware and woodenware applying the speciality of the material, and used the tablewares and dishes adjusting them properly to need of their life. Tracing back the actual topic, it has been proved that among the important tablewares and dishes the earthenwares were widely used, while the woodenwares were supplimentary to them. One can not say that there are enough material collected, but as an essay, concentrating on dishes, we can provide this survey.
