Development of Enterprise Search Engine QuickSolution by Yoshinori Takenami, Masahiro Kishida and Yasuo Tanabe As document digitization and information sharing increase in enterprises, the volume of information within a company s possesion grows steadily. As a result, there are increasing needs to effectively search across a company s information assets. Enterprise search is a system for searching through all data owned by a company in a cross-sectoral manner. This paper describes the functions and features of the QuickSolution search engine developed as enterprise search software. First, five requirements (search result ranking, scalability for large-volume data, database search, access privilege management and customization) required for enterprise search are described, as well as the functions and the means of problem solution QuickSolution offers for each of these requirements. Next, more detailed descriptions are given on the two among the five requirements, which are the search algorithm related to search result ranking and the access privilege management function that is especially important for enterprise search.
