114 Problems Inherent in the Acquisition of a Professional Qualification: The process of obtaining an Architect s license ABSTRACT In this paper the author describes his experience of studying and applying for an Architect s license. Despite studying for five years from 2005 to 2009, at a specialized professional school, he was able to obtain only a Second-class Architect s license, not the Firstclass license he had hoped for. Obtaining First-class license is extremely difficult and very expensive but the license does not guarantee a high income for the holder. Originally, the license was the proof of an architect s professional skills. Nowadays, it has become a necessary qualification for those who wish to exercise the profession of architect or building engineer. Key Words: profession, license, cost of license
