No. 22 March 2014 The Sericultural Industry and Agricultural Associations in Northeast China in 1930 s Ryuichi Tanaka The article studies the policy of sericultural industries and the actual situation of local societies in Northeast China-Feng Tian and An Dong in-in 1930 s. First, the sericultural industry had prospered at Feng Tian and Andong districts in Northeast China since WW I. Especially the silk industry had placed a weight on the export for Japan since the late 1920 s. However the yield had decreased since the Mukuden incident on 1931. Second, Japanese imperialism had put emphasis on the improvement of silkworms and on implementing a plan for increasing the product of cocoons for Manchukuo era. The Manchurian Sericultural Corporation was established in 1939 in order to carry out the revision of The Manchurian five year s plan for an industrial development. But this company brought about serious conflicts against local agricultural associations. Third, the Manchukuo government had accelerated increasing the product of cocoons since Sino Japanese War. On the other hand, the peasantry changed from the sericultural industry to food production. Moreover they diverted cocoons for rationing onto the black market.
