7200348 Dear Masayuki, Once again a nice surprise to find your latest CD in the mailbox. Thank you indeed! Quite astonishing and interesting to hear such a rare interview, which was new to me and not listed anywhere. The transfers have the usual high level. My favourites are the Rosamunde excerpts. I think the reproduction of the lower frequencies and the string timbre is really remarkable for a recording from the 1930s. I had the same impression with the Brahms Hungarian dance in one of the earlier issues. For the Symphonie I prefer the "blue tape" pressing with less surface noise and a very natural sound. Dietrich b 89 cc bc bc 89 cc )1( c c obe c meen Dear Masayuki, Your parcel arrived and I was delighted with the new CD. Many thanks! This time Beethoven 4th from 1950. I bought this recording when I came to Japan for the first time in 2001. Back then there was a record store in the Shinagawa train station where I found it. Since then I like it very much and find it better than the 1952 remake. The natural sound and transfer is again remarkably well done! Dietrich b 89 c )1-( c (() 89 c )1- c 89 c meen 4
70348 Dear Masayuki, Thank you very much for sending me 2 copies of Faculty WFFC 1604/5-HYM, containing all of Furtwängler's Schubert recordings for Polydor/DGG. And most surprisingly the interview with Dr. Furtwängler on his recording of his 2nd symphony! As always with these 78 rpm transfers the sound quality is far superior to any other transfers to either LP or CD. In fact, I prefer the 78 rpm transfer of Schubert's 8th (9th) symphony when compared to the transfer of the LPM 18015-6, especially the woodwinds sound clearer (to my ears). b k9 G8).(,- c c b EC 89 C 89 cm~nb EC C@)0()-%. cc emn Dear Masayuki, Thank you very much for sending me two copies of Beethoven's 4th symphony, the 1950 VPO recording. Today I had the enormous pleasure of hearing it. I think I have not listened to that performance for more than 20 or 30 years - normally playing the 1943 BPO version, or the VPO 1953 from Munich - thus I was really thrilled by the sound and - especially - the performance. I think the performance is better than the 1952 VPO studio recording - in the same "heavy" manner as the VPO 1947 Eroica is better than the VPO 1952. Of course the sound quality of both of the 1952 recordings are superior to the older 78 rpms, but the "musical" sound you are able to pick up on this new transfer is very fine and distinct - strings, woodwinds, horns and timpani, it all comes out clearly and precisely. Sincerely yours, Henning b )1-( FCB 89 cc (( c )1, 7CB )1-FCB b 89 c )1-FCB c FCB)1,/ FCB)1- c )1- EC b obc c emn 5
