5 Abstract of Master s Thesis of Academic Year 2016 Synesthesia Suit: Full-body Immersive Haptic Suit Category: Design Summary With the development of head-mounted displays and audio technology, virtual reality experiences have become widespread, and expectations are increasing especially in entertainment. Currently popular devices are mainly focused on audiovisual awareness. However, in the field of research, there are some attempts to present a haptic sense that deepens virtual reality experience by designing haptic sensations and spatial patterns of haptic sensations. There is a game called Rez that tried to realize immersive entertainment with a consumer game. In this paper, the author describes a project to develop Synesthesia Suit which expands the synesthetic immersion experience to whole body of Playstation VR game Rez Infinite which is the VR version of Rez. This Synesthesia Suit project is a collaboration with Enhance Games, Rhizomatiks and KMD.
