1 A basic study on designing 3D Characters for laser-plasma scanning 3D display More and more attentions are paid to the threedimensional (3D) display as our desires to view real 3D images swell, and much research has been done on 3D display. Auto-stereoscopic displays allow us to view 3D images without requiring the viewer to wear special glasses or devices. Recently, a novel 3D display using laser-plasma scanning has been proposed, that can show any 3D contents in free space. In order to extend the potential applicability of the system, this paper presents amethod to produce 3D characters as point-cloud contents with considering the hardware characteristics. Then, I estimate the damage of various built contents on the system and confirm the validity of the proposed method.
