1 Fernand Gillet Hugo Fox 2013 Oboe Competition June 25-29, 2013 University of Redlands, California, USA The is pleased to announce the 33rd annual performance competition being held for oboists in The competition is dedicated to the memory of the late master oboist and honorary member of the IDRS, Fernand Gillet, and to the memory of master bassoonist Hugo Fox, principal bassoonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from First prize for the 2013 competition is a $10,000 US cash award. The second prize is a $6,000 US cash award. Other finalists will receive a $2000 US cash award. 1. ELIGIBILITY. Oboists who have not reached their 31st birthday before the date of the final audition (June 28, 2013) are eligible to enter, but no previous first prize winner of the Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Competition is eligible to participate. All entrants must be current members of the IDRS. For membership information, contact: 2. LEVELS OF COMPETITION. There are two levels of competition. A. Preliminary Stage All entrants must submit an online application and an application fee of $75 US payable by credit card (VISA and MasterCard only). All entrants must electronically submit a recording of the entire repertoire list below performed with piano accompaniment. Instructions on applying and uploading recordings are available at:. Final Stage Up to five finalists will be selected by the competition committee with the results announced by May 1, The final round will be heard by a distinguished panel of judges in an open concert at the meeting at University of the Redlands, CA, June Repertoire for the final round will be the same as that for the Preliminary Stage with the addition of the entire Oboe Concerto in D Minor by Ludwig August Lebrun (Schott). The judges will select portions of each of the four pieces listed in this announcement for use in the competition. A professional accompanist will be provided for the contestants; however, contestants may elect to use an accompanist of their own choosing at their own expense. The decision of the judges is final. The judges may elect to award fewer prizes than outlined above or no prizes. IDRS will provide meals and lodging for each of the finalists for the duration of the Conference. The winner of the competition will agree to perform the entire Lebrun Concerto in D Minor on a concert during the 2013 IDRS Conference. B. Épreuve Finale Le Jury annoncera le 1er mai 2013 au plus tard les noms des cinq candidats sélectionnés pour le concours final. Les finalistes s engagent alors à participer au concours final qui aura lieu, en présence d un Jury, lors d un concert public pendant le Congrès de l IDRS à Redlands, CA, U.S.A. du 25 au 29 juin Le programme imposé pour le concours final sera identique au programme présenté à l épreuve éliminatoire, Concerto pour hautbois en ré mineur entier Ludwig August Lebrun (Schott). Les juges choisiront des extraits de chacune des quatre oeuvres énumérées ci-dessus pour les besoins du concours. Un accompagnateur est à la disposition des candidats; toutefois s ils le souhaitent, les candidats peuvent amener à leurs frais leur accompagnateur habituel. La décision du Jury est sans appel. Le Jury se réserve le droit de ne pas remettre tous les prix décrits ci-dessus. L IDRS payera les frais de séjour de chaque finaliste qui assiste au Congrès. Le gagnant du premier prix du concours s engage à exécuter le Concerto de Lebrun au complet lors d un concert durant le Congrès de l IDRS de 2013.

März, 2013 eingegangen sein. B. Endrunde Die Jury wird bis zum 1. Mai 2013 bis zu fünf Finalisten zur Teilnahme an der Endrunde auswählen und bekanntgeben. Die ausgewählten Bewerber erklären sich damit einverstanden, an der Endrunde teilzunehmen. Die Endausscheidung wird vor renommierten Juroren in einem öffentlichen Konzert des Kongresses in Redlands, CA zwischen dem 25. und 29. Juni 2013 ausgetragen. Das Repertoire der Endrunde ist dasselbe wie das der Vorrunde; zusätzlich muss jedoch das gesamte Oboenkonzert in d-moll von Ludwig August Lebrun (Schott) vorbereitet werden. Die Preisrichter werden Teile aus jedem der vier Stücke auswählen, die im Wettbewerb vorgetragen werden müssen. Ein Begleiter wird jedem Teilnehmer zur Verfügung gestellt, jedoch kann jeder Teilnehmer einen Begleiter eigener Wahl mitbringen. Die Entscheidung der Juroren kann nicht angefochten werden. Die Jury kann auch beschliessen, weniger oder keine Preise zu verleihen. Die IDRS wird die Kosten für Mahlzeiten und Übernachtungen für jeden der Finalisten während des Kongresses tragen. Der Sieger des Wettbewerbs erklärt sich damit einverstanden, das gesamte Oboenkonzert in d-moll von Ludwig August Lebrun in einem Konzert während des 2013 IDRS Kongresses vorzutragen.
