1 YOUNG ARTIST BASSOON COMPETITION 2013 June 25-29, 2013 University of Redlands, California, USA /competitions The is pleased to announce the sixth annual performance competition for young artists. First prize for the 2013 competition is a $3000 US cash award. The second prize is a $2000 US cash award. The third prize is a $1000 US cash award. 1. ELIGIBILITY. Bassoonists who have not reached their 22nd birthday by the date of the final round of the competition (June 27, 2013) are eligible to enter. No previous first prize winner of the IDRS Young Artist Competition is eligible to participate. All entrants must be current members of the IDRS. For membership information, contact: 2. LEVELS OF COMPETITION. There are two levels of competition. A. Preliminary Stage All entrants must submit an online application and an application fee of $35 US payable by credit card (VISA and MasterCard only). All entrants must electronically submit a recording of the entire repertoire list below performed with piano accompaniment. Instructions on applying and uploading recordings are available at: /competitions. Partita for Solo Bassoon. Movements I-IV Edition of entrant s choice Edition of entrant s choice To be considered, all application materials must be submitted on or before March 1, 2013 B. Final Stage Three finalists will be selected by the competition committee, with the results announced by May 1, If selected for the finals, all applicants must agree to appear and perform in the finals. The final round will be heard by a distinguished panel of judges in an open concert at the meeting in Redlands, California, USA, June 25-29, Repertoire for the final round will be the same as that for the preliminary stage, except the finalists must be prepared to perform the Suite pour basson et piano by Alexandre Tansman, published by Eschig; the judges will select portions of the repertoire for use in the competition. A professional accompanist will be provided for the contestants; however, contestants may elect to use an accompanist of their own choosing at their own expense. The decision of the judges is final. The judges may elect to award fewer prizes than outlined above or no prizes. IDRS will pay the registration fee for the entire conference week for each finalist. The winner of the competition will agree to perform a half-hour program selected from the competition repertoire on a concert during the 2013 IDRS Conference. Le premier prix pour le concours 2013 est une bourse au montant de 3000$ US. Le deuxième prix est une bourse de 2000$ US, et le troisième prix une bourse de 1000$ US. 1. ADMISSIBILITÉ. Les bassonistes n ayant pas atteint l âge de 22 ans à la date de la ronde finale du concours (27 juin 2013) sont admissibles au concours, à l exception des gagnants d un premier prix lors d une édition antérieure du Concours pour jeunes artistes IDRS. Le concours de déroule en deux épreuves. A. Épreuve préliminaire. La finale se tiendra devant un jury distingué lors d un concert public au congrès de l IDRS qui se tiendra à Redlands, California, USA, du 25 au 29 juin Le répertoire de l épreuve finale sera le même que pour l étape préliminaire, et les candidats devront également être prêts à jouer la Suite pour basson et piano de Alexandre Tansman, publiée chez Eschig; les membres du jury séléctionneront les extraits du répertoire qui seront joués en finale. Un accompagnateur professionel sera disponible pour les candidats; cependant les candidats pourront utiliser un pianiste de leur choix à leurs frais. La décision du jury est finale; le jury peut décider de ne pas attribuer tous les prix énumérés cihaut, ou aucun prix. Le gagnant du concours accepte de présenter un récital de 30 minutes comprenant des oeuvres du répertoire du Concours lors du congrès 2013 de l IDRS. Para el 2013 el primer lugar recibirá un premio en efectivo de $3.000 dólares, el segundo de $2.000 dólares y el tercero de $1.000 dólares. 1. REQUISITOS BÁSICOS. Pueden participar fagotistas que a la fecha de la ronda final (Junio 27 de 2013), no hayan cumplido sus 22 años de edad y que no hayan obtenido el primer lugar en previas versiones del concurso. Para la ronda final se contará con la presencia de un panel de jurados de reconocida trayectoria en un concierto abierto durante la conferencia de la Sociedad Internacional de Dobles Cañas en Redlands, California, EE.UU., que se realizará entre el 25 y el 29 de Junio de El repertorio para la ronda final será el mismo de la etapa preliminar, además los finalistas deberán estar preparados para interpretar la Suite para Fagot y Piano de Alexandre Tansman, publicada por Eschig; los jurados escogerán determinados pasajes del repertorio para el concurso. Un pianista acompañante profesional será asignado para los concursantes; sin embargo, pueden traer su propio acompañante, cuyo costo será asumido por ellos mismos. La decisión de los jurados será inapelable. Los jurados estarán en libertad de declarar desierto alguno de los premios si así lo consideran. La IDRS cubrirá los costos de la inscripción a la conferencia de cada finalista. Der erste Preis für diesen Wettbewerb beträgt US $ Der zweite Preis ist mit US $2.000 und der dritte Preis ist mit US $1.000 US ausgeschrieben. 1. TEILNAHMEBEDINGUNGEN. Fagottisten, die ihr 22. Lebensjahr am Tag der Finalrunde (27. Juni 2013) noch nicht vollendet haben, sind zur Teilnahme berechtigt, sofern sie nicht schon einen ersten Preis im Wettbewerb Junge Künstler gewonnen haben. Alle Teilnehmer müssen Mitglieder der IDRS sein. Für Mitgliedschaftinformation kontaktieren Sie bitte Frau Norma Hooks: 2. WETTBEWERBSABLAUF. Es gibt zwei Wettbewerbsrunden. A. Vorrunde - Alle Teilnehmer müssen ein online ausgefülltes Anmeldeformular einschicken und die Teilnahmegebühr von US $35, zahlbar an die IDRS in amerikanischer Währung mit Scheck oder Kreditkarte (nur VISA oder Mastercard), entrichten. Die folgenden Werke müssen mit Klavierbegleitung in der angegebenen Reihenfolge auf CD eingereicht werden. Die Aufnahme soll die folgenden Werke enthalten: Partita for Solo Bassoon. Movements I, II, III, IV Ausgabe der Wahl des Teilnehmers Ausgabe der Wahl des Teilnehmers Um für den Wettbewerb in Betracht gezogen zu werden, müssen alle Unterlagen bis spätesten den 1. März 2013 eingegangen sein. B. Endrunde - Die Jury wird bis zum 1. Mai 2013 maximal drei Fagottisten zur Teilnahme an der Endrunde auswählen und bekanntgeben. Die ausgewählten Bewerber mussen sich damit einverstanden erklären, an der Endrunde teilzunehmen. Die Endausscheidung wird vor renommierten Juroren in einem öffentlichen Konzert des Kongress in Redlands, California, USA, vom 25 bis zum 29 Juni 2013 ausgetragen. Das Repertoire der Endrunde ist dasselbe wie das der Vorrunde. Außerdem müssen die Finalisten bereit sein, die Suite pour basson et piano von Alexandre Tansman und veröffentlicht von Eschig, öffentlich durchzuführen. Die Juroren werden für den Wettbewerb einen Teil dieser Stücke auswählen. Ein Begleiter wird zur Verfügung stehen, allerdings können die Teilnehmer auch einen Begleiter ihrer Wahl auf eigene Kosten mitbringen. Die Entscheidung der Juroren ist endgültig. Die Jury kann auch beschließen, weniger oder keine Preise zu verleihen. Die IDRS zahlt die Einschreibegebühr für die gesamte Konferenzwoche für jeden Finalisten. Der Sieger des Wettbewerbes erklärt sich damit einverstanden, ein halbstündiges Programm, welches von dem Wettbewerbsrepertoire ausgewählt wird, auf einem Konzert während der IDRS Konferenz 2013 durchzuführen.
