78 Energy and Environmental Consciousness Differences between Advanced and Developing Countries Abstract The purpose of the present study is to understand how much differences there are between advanced countries and developing countries in terms of environmental and enegy consciousness. We are experiencing now a big dilemma of the human desire to continue to exist and, at the same time, to develop the economy against the worsening of the Earth s environmental conditions. Understanding international differences of environmental and energy consciousness is a short way to solve this dilemma.the results of the present study were that peoples from advanced countries feel that science and technology are sometimes unreliable, while those from developing countries, are willing to rely upon them. However regardless of the country, people share the same consciousness about Earth s environment. In both, advanced and developing coutries, people are reluctant to give up living comforts, unless this leads to a higher standard of living. Based on this result, the author would like to conduct another survey concerning the consciousness of future lifestyle.
