SHMINI ATZERES: A TAKE HOME LESSON עצרת ANOTHER DEFINITION FOR Sifsei Chaim (p. 339) In the Aramaic translation, the word עצרת is defined as,כנישין meaning gathering or collecting together. This reflects what the Zohar says that on the joyous day of the King everyone gathers together with him to celebrate. However, there is another way to understand the translation of Atzeres meaning gathering: to gather all that we have acquired throughout the High Holiday season.
