Comparative analysis of the social studies textbooks (the field of civics) in Japanese and Korean Junior High Schools - Focusing on the people related to human rights from the viewpoint of Comprehensive Peace Education SOHN, Mihaeng The purpose of this paper is to bring the present problems into focus through the comparative analysis of Japanese and Korean social studies textbooks (the field of civics), when they have comprehensive peace education programs in the lessons at each jr. high school. When I made the analysis of the textbooks, I set the standards referring to Suggestions for teaching and learning about human rights in schools by the council of Europe in. In this paper, I put the focus on the people, both successes and failures, in the historical and continuing struggle for human rights among them. After examining the textbook under the above standard, I found several problems for peace education. As a result, we should develop the effective comprehensive peace education programs overcoming these problems one by one carefully.
