きっと熟睡していたに違いない彼女は ゆったりと伸びをして 半分は犬種でほぼ決まり 残り あくびをした後 落ち着かない様子でお座りをする ケージに の半分の半分は幼児期の環境で 入れて外出することにしている我が家では 外に出してやると 決定すると 動物学者は言いま 一目散に膝に飛び乗ってくる 当然 勤務医の仕事では 一緒 す そうすると自分たちで仔犬 にいられない時間が多いので 犬と一緒に暮らすことを決めた を手にしてから作られるのは 時に 独立心も自立心も強い犬種と言われるチワワと住むこと 1/4 程度の個性に過ぎないこと に決めた なります 繁殖家との約束で ところが うちの子はどうやら extraordinary に甘えん坊らし 犬が 2 歳半の頃交配し 10 頭 い 家で仕事をする時は 100% 膝に乗っている こうして の仔犬を出産しましたが 今で この原稿を書いている間も彼女は膝の上で 丸くなって眠って も忘れられない思い出です 深 いる 私が難解な論文の理解に苦しんでいれば 調べ物を広げ 夜 寝室のベッドのうえで産気 ているところにトコトコやって来て まるで自分が読んでいる づいて慌てて下におろして 明 かのように 本の上に伏せてしまう 次のページに進むには け方近くまで次々と 10 頭の仔 ちょっとどいて下さいよと断わるはめになる しかし 仕事の 犬が生まれてきました ちょう 邪魔をするのかと思いきや こちらが 本当に切羽つまって集 中している間は 今原稿をうっている間のように すっかりお ど夏休みの時期で 子供たちに とっても貴重な経験となりました となしくしている 動物はごまかせないもので ちょっと も アンナが 7 歳で病死し 家族全員がペットロスのような状態 う仕事はいいかしらと集中力が途切れようものならば すぐに になりましたが 数ヶ月のブランクをおいて 同じ犬種の雌 エ 察知されてしまう いつもの ひよこのおもちゃを口にくわえ バ を再び飼い 数年後友人の紹介で黒い子猫 軽井沢で獣医 て持ってきて 遊ぼうとばかりに すぐそばに置く 遊ばない に保護されていた推定 3 ヶ月 も飼うことになり 黒い犬 猫 のよと無視をすれば 少しは足に触れそうな距離に鼻づらで押 と一緒の生活をしていましたが 3 年前にエバは 14 歳半で天 し付けてくる 不思議なことに 仕事に出かける時はおとなし 寿を全うしました く ケージに入り 休日の外出では ソファーの下から出てこ ない 若い時から年老いて介護が必要になり そして最後の姿まで みることができたペットを家族にもてたことで 普段あまり意 大したしつけもしていないが 物を壊すようないたずらもし ないので 本当に手がかからないが 自分がいなくなったら大 識しなかった自分や家族の一生についても深く考えるように なった気がしています 丈夫かしらと不安になる こんな 親ばか飼い主を察して 臨床の先生方も職場のデス クにあるわんこの写真にちらっとお世辞を言って去っていく ---------------------------------------------------------------- ポメリと私 公立陶生病院病理診断科 小野 謙三 みなさん 私が彼女に支えられているのはよくご存じで 私の毎日は小さな白い毛球の ---------------------------------------------------------------- 襲来から始まる 掛け布団に勢 病理医とペット いよく跳ね上ると 胸の上に仁 昭和大学医学部臨床病理診断学 瀧本 雅文 王立ちになり 私が起きるまで 小学生のころ 黒い長毛でカールのかかった小型の雑種犬を 顔ペロペロ攻撃 を止めない 飼っていました 若くして病死したのがトラウマとなっていた ようやくこの挨拶が終わる頃を のかあまり犬を飼おうという気にはなっていませんでしたが 見計らって 私はこの生きた目 二十数年後 結婚して子供が小学生になったころ たまたま散 覚まし時計をひょいと抱え挙げ 居間に下りていく これが愛 歩中に黒い毛並のよい犬を見たとき この犬を飼ってみたいと 犬ポメリの最初の日課であり 彼女が家に来てからの変わらぬ いう衝動が突然わいてきました それがラブラドール レトリ 習慣である ポメリは 12 歳の真っ白なロングコートチワワで バーで 盲導犬や警察犬としても活躍している犬種です ちょ 臈長けたレディーである それにしてはいささかはしたない 起 うど近所に この犬種の繁殖家がいて 雌の仔犬を分けてもら こし方 であるが 職務に忠実なことには頭が下がるし おか い 運よく飼うことができました げで私の目覚めもすこぶる快調である アンナと名づけましたが 穏やかで従順な性格で家庭犬とし 人と同様 ペットとの 出会い もある 私は幼少から大変 ては素晴らしく 特に訓練などはしませんでしたが 暮らしの な犬好きであったが 大学生の頃 実家で飼っていた 2 匹のア 相棒でありパートナーのような存在でした 犬の性格や個性の メリカンコッカ-スパニエルが相次いで亡くなってから いわ 3
