Role of CHUN, Doo-hwan in the fifth Republic era, South Korea: Development Produced Between the Villain and Villain s Role HAYASHI Fumiki In South Korea, the fifth Republic era 1981 1988 by the CHUN, Doo-hwan regime, is the military regime following the PARK, Jeong-hui regime which is described as a dark age in one side of the high economic growth. And, In this regime, only fraud and bribery stood out without a special economic growth. Though PARK, Jeong-hui did not give special interests to his relatives, CHUN, Doo-hwan caused the big scandal to divert large sums of money to his relatives. In addition, when CHUN, Doo-hwan took the political power to mobilize the military in the same way the previous regime, though PARK, Jeong-hui accomplished a bloodless coup, CHUN, Doo-hwan was caused to a citizens massacre in Gwangju. For all of these reasons, CHUN, Doo-hwan always have the image as a villain. However, while South Korea society has a lot of problems, in this fifth Republic era, the Korean people have benefited from the wealth, and began to have an interest in a variety of cultural content. In this paper, while focusing on one person that CHUN, Doo-hwan, I consider the fifth republic from the side of the positive and negative. 113
