Abstract The governors and mayors of Japan actively practice top sales activities in foreign countries. Their purpose is to boost their local economies through promoting local product exports and providing business support to local companies investing overseas. In fiscal year 2014, the number of governors and mayors visiting China was large, and the number visiting Taiwan, the United States, Thailand, and Singapore increased compared to the previous fiscal year. Ten local governments concluded memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with the Ministry of Industry in Thailand to strengthen industrial exchanges between Thailand and Japan.
