Yoseba Street Life: The Life-World of Day Laborers in Kamagasaki Shinpei NISHIDA : The problem of nojukusha has been related to yoseba since the high-growth period of the Japanese economy. Because many nojukusha were once day laborers who gathered in yoseba, they use such areas for living and as bases for everyday life. Sociological studies of yoseba now tend to emphasize the gap between society and yoseba in order to criticize society and highlight this social discrimination. Therefore, yoseba has been analyzed as a discrimination problem. I believe that studies of yoseba should be conducted in the field in order to find solutions to the problem. This paper aims to realistically describe the everyday lives of nojukusha and day laborers on the basis of field research in Kamagasaki. : yoseba, Kamagasaki, discrimination problem, strategy, identity work, clinical knowledge Graduate Student, Graduate School of Sociology, Ritsumeikan University
