30 The Recovery from Attention Deficit, Hyperactivity Disorders and Hyperkinetic Disorders - through the counsel ing for a Mother-- Hideo Tsujimura Nowadays, the troubles of the children who have ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders), HD (Hyperkinetic Disorders) and LD (Learning Disabilities) are often reported. The causes of them are supposed to be the disorders of the central nervous system or the influences of the environment, but it is still not clear. Originally, the symptoms of them are all alike, in spite of the differences among those causes. For instance the characteristics of Mental Retardation, Autism and Learning Disabilities are very similar to those of normal children who have the behavioral problems, as the individuality. Needless to say, those behavioral problems should be diagnosed and medically treated as soon as the adults including parents know about it. But they must not be too conscious and neurotic about the symptoms. If not, they will be very emotionally instable. So it is better that we do not use the word "Shogai" in Japanese, so called Disabilities or Disorders in English, easily. People will be very disappointed when they hear "Shogai". The people around the identified child take it for granted that the child having "Shogai" should be specially treated. In this way, they will all badly treat the child as a natural course of event. It is said that the behavioral problems of the children will normally change around the third year of elementary school. Until then we must take care of the mother including father lovingly in the way that they bring up and educate their children so as not to irritate themselves. This paper deals with the importance of the support for the mother whose child has the problems of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders,Learning Disabilities and others. [Key words: ADHD, LD, Autism, Intellectually Disorders, Hyperkinetic Disorders]
