Citizenship in social studies education principle and value in law related education Kazuyoshi NAKADAIRA* The purpose of the present study,it aimed to define constitutional value in Japan and the concept of a constitutional principle, and to clarify how the treatment of them by the social studies education. Moreover, the citizenship was considered from both sides of two people sides, that is, Individual as the human rights subject and People as the sovereignty subject, and trying the to catch was aimed at. Recently, basic value of the constitution was not followed along with the new course of study in the law related education that the execution was scheduled though it was an education concerning the law. Constitutional value and a constitutional principle to make Respect for individuals that was basic value of the constitution an embodiment were classified into the ends and means, and the relation was arranged there. Among those, about constitutional values, we consider the position of human rights of scholars to define the Constitution, it shall be placed at the top of the classification, but not particularly.and, the human rights especially put on the high rank defined them from becoming grounds of the right in a real established rule as constitutional value. In addition, the one that hit various systems (It is a constitution system if it said by the component of Masayasu Hasegawa s law) to make the constitutional value an embodiment was assumed to be a constitutional principle. Also in public education, how education should be whether the constitutional principles and constitutional values that consider the past, and whether there was a discussion to determine who its contents. Even to tell what is included in the Constitution and commentators in particular have not been asked that, if the value contained in the Constitution is a prerequisite for selection of value for comparison and commentators in education should be positive said.
