- June The Need of LRT Introduction to Japan and a Proposal of the Breakthrough in Realization In Europe and North America, there are many cities where the streetcar is still playing an active part. In the 1980s a new mode of streetcar, which so called Light Rail Transit (LRT, if it calls for short), is enjoying a revive. The introduction of LRT into places where the streetcar was once abolished is characteristics. The aftereffect of the Tram Revolution (sometimes is called the Traffic Renaissance) centering on Germany and France had an effect on many cities of the EU and so on. With such a thing generally the perception plain in a city will be preparation of LRT which is easy for a person and low pollution instead of using own car. In Japan there are all 17 cities where the old type streetcar is still active. I think it is essential to introduce LRT to Japan. Realization of LRT must be hurried. LRT will become the leading role of city traffic for the 21st century in Japan at the point of ecology, economy, and human-friendly transit. Here I will examin the possibility and breakthrough in realization of LRT introduction to Japan. And I will propose the neccessity of New Deal Policy concerning for the all public tranport laws.
