NODERA, K.*, TANAKA, Y.**, RAFAEL, F.*** and MIYAZAKI, Y.**** : Relationship between rate of success and distance of shooting on fade-away shoot in female university basketball players. Bull. Tokyo Gakugei Univ. Division of Arts and Sports Sciences., :71 77. (2011) ISSN 1880 4349 The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the success rates and the distance of shooting in a fade away shoot. Twenty female university Basketball players performed fade-away and jump shoots from three different distances of the hoop, 2.425m, 4.225m and 6.25m respectively. The measures of success shoot was obtained from shooting 100 times from each distance during 10 days. Results showed that the rate of success on fade-away shoot was significantly lower than jump shoot in each of the three shooting distances, the differences of success rates among fade-away and jump shoot were increased according to longer distance. We concluded that fade-away shoots provide better success shoot near to the hoop than from longer distances, furthermore, it s very difficult for female university basketball players to use fade-away shoot from 3-points line distances or longer. *Research Institute of Tamagawa University **Graduate school of Tokyo Gakugei University, Course of Health and Physical Education ***Graduate school of Tsukuba University, Course of Comprehensive Human Science ****Tokyo Gakugei University, Department of Health and Sport Sciences mm m
