You will have the exam in the next room. Mr. Dale: Oh, alright. Thank you. Mr. Dale: Sir, if I may ask, how many sets of questions are in this exam? GRAMMAR REVIEW:( 文法の復習 ) Topic: Tag Questions (5-6 minutes)( 付加疑問文 ) Tag questions are sentences which are used to mainly ask for confirmation. The question on the last part of the sentence is called question tag 付加疑問文は 主に確認を求める際に用いられる文です 文の最後の質問部分は 付加疑問 と呼ばれます Tag questions can have a positive or a negative statement, and the question tag should always be the opposite of the statement. Normally, if you want to politely ask a question or ask for help, you use the negative statement with a positive question tag. 付加疑問文には肯定形と否定形があり 付加疑問は常にその反対になります 通常 丁寧に質問をしたり助けを求めたりしたい場合は 肯定の付加疑問をつけた否定形の付加疑問文を用います Structure of a Tag Question:( 付加疑問文の構文 ) Positive statement, Example: You have answered all the equation questions, 例 : あなたは その方程式の質問に全て答えました ( 肯定 ) Negative tag question haven t you? ( 否定の付加疑問 ) Example: 例 : Negative statement, Mr. Wick wasn t able to submit the test paper on time, ウィックさんは時間通りにテスト用紙を提出できませんでした ( 否定 ) Positive tag question was he? ( 肯定の付加疑問 ) Remember:( 注意 ) Tag questions are normally based on the truthfulness of the first statement and not on whether it is positive or negative. 付加疑問文は通常 先行する文が正しいかどうかに基づいて判断します 肯定形であるか否定形であるかにとらわれず Example: (situation: It is true that the 50-item exam is difficult) 例 :(50 問試験が難しいのは事実であるという条件 ) The 50-item exam is difficult, isn t it?
