2 Osaka Gakuin University Spring Semester JSL2(Pre-Intermediate Japanese) Instructors: Mr. Shuhei Ono & Mr. Hiroshi Yasumoto Class hours: Mon, Wed, Fri 9:00-10:00 10:10-11:10 Tue, Thu 9:00-10:00 10:10-11:10 11:20-12:20 Office: Office Hours: 13:00-14:00 Subject Code: 2002 Course Outline: This course is intended for pre-intermediate students. Students will learn fundamental grammar and sentence structures in order to have basic daily conversation. Students will study how to read and write JLPT level N4 Kanji, read and write complex sentences in addition to speaking and listening skills. This course also aims to be able to use Japanese in a variety of situations in everyday lin addition to basic conversation. Conversational skills will be increased through looking at situations and expressions used in Japanese customs and rituals. Monday classes with Mr. Yasumoto will cover vocabulary and conversation, followed by Kanji at the same pace as the text book. Textbooks: Minna no Nihongo Pre- Intermediate Ⅱ 2 nd Edition -3A Publishing Minna no Nihongo Pre- Intermediate Ⅱ 2 nd Edition Translation and grammar explanation - 3A Publishing Minna no Nihongo Pre- Intermediate Ⅱ 2 nd Edition Kaite Oboeru Renshucho - 3A P Kirari Nihongo N4 Vocabulary Bonjinsha Kanji book- TBA Homework & Quizzes: You are required to prepare by studying new vocabulary for each chapter in advance. Homework (chapter quiz and practices from the text) will be given after each class and must be handed in by the given deadline. At the completion of each chapter a minitest (Quiz or dictation) will be given covering vocabulary and grammar. Attendance Class attendance is required. You have to inform your teacher or the International Center if you will be absent. If you are absent for more than 1/3 of the classes you will not get any grade/credits. If you are late for class 3 times it will be counted as 1 absence. Grading Policy: Exams (Mid-term & Final) 30%, (15% each) Mini tests 10% Homework 10% Attendance 15% Poster Presentation 5% Participation in class 10% Kanji 12% (Mini tests, Mid-term &Final exams each 4%) Vocabulary % Grammar 13%
