These were measured in single pieces and layered. We investigated differences between the furisode nagagi and komon nagagi, and vs. Western clothing. The results were as follows. 1. One furisode nagagi had a thermal resistance of 0.758 clo, and 1.174 clo when worn in two layers. 2. One komon nagagi was 0.708 clo, and 1.249 clo when worn in two layers. 3. The effective thermal resistance Iclo of seven types of garments a single furisode nagagi, komon nagagi, nagajuban furisode nagagi, nagajuban komon nagagi, coat, hadajuban and susoyoke displayed a significant correlation with gross weight r=0.958**. 4. Western clothing worn in two layers was 1.122 clo, almost the same as for furisode nagagi. 5. Comparing the sum of the clo of single pieces of clothing vs. the layered clo, furisode lost 44.3%, komon nagagi lost 51.8%, and Western clothing lost 41.9%. 6. We created a clothing climate diagram for the Japanese clothing, and confirmed that they have almost the same temperature and humidity levels as Western clothing. 125
